These reminders don’t do much for our popularity. But, the only thing worse than doing the work of complying with IRS mandates is stressing over penalties after the IRS has already knocked on your door (see IRS sample letter 226J).
We cannot stress enough how important it is to keep track of your filing deadlines. It will help you avoid last-minute time crunches and potential penalties. So here are all your Tax Year 2017 ACA and 1099 deadlines:
January 31, 2018 – Form 1099-MISC with Box 7 reporting must be filed with the IRS. All recipient copies of Form 1095-C and Form Series 1099 must be distributed.
February 28, 2018 – Form 1094-C with 1095-C copies and Form Series 1099 must be filed with the IRS if filing by paper.
April 2, 2018 – Form 1094-C with 1095-C copies and Form Series 1099 must be filed with the IRS if filing electronically.
We recommend you shoot for wrapping this up by January 15 in order to have sufficient time to review before distribution.
Good luck and Godspeed! If we can help, let us know.
